Another Rose

We're finally into the home stretch as the last of the roses that predate this year's planting come into bloom.  Today, Garden Party bloomed, the first time it has done so in two years; it was badly damaged by our bad winter of 2004-2005 and spent last year recovering.  I imagine it's also very happy to have been freed of the overwhelming presence of Louise Odier (who also gave us a beautiful blossom today) and the towering Forsythia that kept it from getting a lot of the sunlight I'm sure it wanted.  This leaves Tropicana as the only rose planted before this year yet to bloom and it has swelling buds so I imagine that it won't be too long before it, too, has flowers for us.  And, the way things are going, I'm sure that the roses planted this year (Abraham Darby, Double Delight, and Peace) will bloom this month or next.
