This past April, when I found that the Double Delight tree rose had not survived the winter, I was rather sad as, over the many years I had it, it had become one of my favorites, both beautiful and intensely fragrant. Having grown large at the front of the house, I could sniff the roses right from the front porch. My adventures with getting a replacement and getting it (them) into the ground were documented earlier in the Journal. The replacement tree in the back yard garden (never, ever underestimate a southern exposure) has burst into bloom, reminding me (not that I needed a reminder) of why this is one of my favorite roses. Pat Austin is also in bloom. Here's Double Delight!
