| Hyacinths |
The hyacinths, of wihch this blue one is a good example, provided excellent color and fragrance to the spring garden.

The millenial crop of hyacinths has started to bloom. The fragrance is both exquisite and overpowering!

The hyacinths have begun to bloom -- spring, 2001.

It's the end of March, 2002 and the
hyacinths are in bloom, with their wonderful fragrance perfuming the garden.
I actually have hyacinths popping up in places that I didn't know I had
hyacinths! ![]()

It's mid-April 2003 and the first of the hyacinths has begun to bloom. Given the winter, it's no surprise that things are a few weeks later than last year! The hyacinths have done a good job reproducing; where there had been one, there are now two or more.

It's 27 March 2004 and the first hyacinth has bloomed, a beautiful blue one with a sweet fragrance.

It's the first week of April 2005 and that same blue hyacinth is the first to bloom again, providing the first garden perfume of the year. After this winter, it's most welcome!

It's 26 March 2006 and the blue hyacinth in the south-facing backyard is once again the first to bloom.

It's 17 March 2007 and the same blue hyacinth as last year has, seemingly overnight, burst into bloom, last weekends ice storm notwithstanding!

A day later -- note the baby hyacinth coming up to the right.

It's late March 2008 and the first of the hyacinths has begun to bloom. As in years past, it's the blue one in the backyard garden which faces south.

Also as in years past, the second hyacinth to bloom is the pink one in the front yard.
