This is a white rhododendron that I planted a few years ago. That's the weigela behind it. As is usually the case, in 1999 it's been the last of the azalea/rhododendron family to bloom.

The old purple rhododendron (easily 12 feet tall) at the side of the house has begun its Y2K bloom.

The white rhododendron that lives under the weigela has erupted into bloom.

The old purple rhododendron is now at the height of its bloom -- late May, 2000.

The white rhododendron is now in full bloom.

After taking a few years off (it grew well but did not bloom) and having suffered some severe damage due to our brutal winter, the white rhododendron has again come into bloom, May, 2003.

The old purple rhododendron is also putting on quite a spectacular show!

It's late May 2004 and the old purple rhododendron has begun to bloom.

A few days later and the white rhododendron has also bloomed.

It's mid-May 2005 and the old purple rhododendron has started to bloom.

It's now mid-May 2006; the old purple rhododendron next to the house has bloomed. It's just about even with the second story of the house now!

It's the fourth week of May 2007; both the white rhododendron and the old purple rhododendron have begun to bloom.

We're getting toward the end of May 2008 and the white rhododendron has started to bloom.

Here's the white rhododendron against the backdrop of the weigela.

Memorial Day finds the old purple rhododendron in full bloom.
