After The Rains

I ventured out today, the first dry day in a while, to see how the roses fared.  All in all, not too badly.  Louise Odier is bent over to the ground, pulled down by the weight of all the waterlogged blooms.  So are canes of Lagerfeld (one of which cracked), Melody Parfumee, Pat Austin, and Zephirine Drouhin.  Once things have had a chance to dry a bit, I'll have to do some pruning and tying to get things in order.  On a happier note, Falstaff has bloomed, giving me its first ever flower.  It's a beauty, deep red to purple, with a good Old Rose (Damask) fragrance.  And, the new Peace tree has its first bud!  Other photographic subjects today include Graham Thomas, Heritage, Melody Parfumee, Pat Austin, Pierre de Ronsard, Sweet Juliet, and Zephirine Drouhin.
