This has surely been a daffy year, what with the false spring in January followed by bitter cold, ice storms, etc. And today was a daffy day, with the temperature spiking (for just this one day) up to eighty degrees! Walking in the garden, a splash of color greeted my eyes. Most appropriately for this daffy year and daffy day, it was the daffy-dils (and hyacinth) that I noticed the other day — they've burst into bloom, the first flowers of the season. And, most welcome they are!
