Heritage |
This is the English shrub rose Heritage. It is a very fine shell pink, which gets lighter as the blossom ages. It has a very strong fragrance, and is one of the best known English roses. Here's a more recent shot:
Heritage has joined the ranks of the 1999 bloomers. Here's the first for the year.
Heritage has joined the others in putting forth a final flush for 1999.
Heritage has begun to open its millenial blooms.
Heritage has bloomed on and off during the entire season. It's now mid-November, and this is probably its last blossom.
Heritage is the third rose to bloom in 2001.
Heritage has popped a single blossom to begin 2002.
On the last day of May, 2003, Heritage has opened the first of its blossoms.
Heritage has begun its second flush at the end of July.
It's mid-October and Heritage has sent some blooms about 10 feet up into the sky!
It's now the second of November and Heritage is still going strong!
Heritage is the fourth rose to bloom, late May 2004.
October ....
It's early June 2005 and Heritage has begun to bloom.
The first flush is over, but Heritage will continue to bloom on and off throughout the summer. Here's a bloom in early July.
We're getting toward late May 2006 and Heritage is opening its first buds.
Mid-July and Heritage is ready to go again.
It's now late August and Heritage has given us this beautiful blossom.
It's now mid-September and Heritage has opened another bloom. It's unusual! In fact, I've never seen the like on Heritage before. A single flower?
Early October brings us another gorgeous (and normal) blossom.
November sees Heritage in a flush!
It's now late November. Having started slowly, Heritage is finishing off the year with a blast!
On 20 May 2007, Heritage tied with Red Ribbons and Winchester Cathedral to become the third bloom of the year.
This beauty was shot while leaning out of a window on the second floor as it's on top of the arbor! That's Gertrude Jekyll next to it.
Heritage has really started to take off just after Memorial Day.
Mid-July finds Heritage once more in bloom.
Still going strong in early August.
Late August and no sign of stopping!
Heritage has continued to bloom into September.
Late September and still going strong!
Memorial Day 2008 brings with it almost summertime warmth and the first blossoms of Heritage.
Now early June ....
Mid-June ....
This cluster is about 8 feet up in the sky!
It's May 2009 and Heritage has begun to bloom.
It's the second week of August and Heritage has opened up this cluster of blooms on a strong stalk a good ten feet in the air. This photo is taken from a second story window using a telephoto lens.
Heritage has bloomed in the first week of May 2010.

In mid-May 2011, Heritage became the third rose to bloom.
We're getting toward the middle of July and Heritage is once again in bloom.
