Plum Perfect |
During the Fourth of July weekend, 2003, I decided to do a little planting to fill in some areas where earlier planted bulbs had died off. Since I didn't have any Hemerocallis (Daylilies), I decided to plant some so I went to the nursery and got three beauties. One is this year's winner of the All American award and is called Plum Perfect, with wonderful plum colored blossoms.
Much to my surprise, Plum Perfect threw out new scapes in late September and here, in the middle of October, I have more daylilies!
We're getting toward the end of June 2004 and Plum Perfect has become the last daylily to bloom.
It's early July 2005 and Plum Perfect has begun to bloom.
Late July and still in bloom.
It's the last day of June 2006 and Plum Perfect has opened up its first two exquisite blooms.
While I was on vacation at Niagara Falls, Plum Perfect bloomed. Here it is on the Fourth of July, 2007.
It's 16 July and this appears to be the last Plum Perfect blossom for this year.
The last day of June 2008 brings with it the first bloom of Plum Perfect. As always, a perfect blossom!
And on through most of July.
In early July 2009, Plum Perfect began to bloom and I got a photo. One evening however, something visited the garden and ate many of the remaining buds, as well as those on the other lilies and daylilies! I am not at all happy and I'm watching over Plum Perfect very carefully to make sure the few remaining buds have their chance to bloom!
Mid to late June 2010 brings the bloom of Plum Perfect. This year it's being sprayed with a noxious spray to keep away the deer!
Plum Perfect has put on a show this year, lasting all the way into July, that had to be seen to be believed! See for yourself!
Just a few days into summer 2011, Plum Perfect has bloomed.
This is another daylily that I may have to divide!
We're getting toward mid-July and Plum Perfect is going gangbusters!
Since the blooms last for just one day, each passing day provides a totally new view.
