Touch of Class

2000 touch of class

Touch of Class is a hybrid tea rose, described as pink with a touch of coral.  I picked it up (a boxed Jackson & Perkins rose) to put in the planter vacated by Taboo.  It's doing quite well as can be seen in the photo above, and should be in bloom shortly.  I can already see that, though it's classed as a hybrid tea, it's another that will be fond of putting out candelabras of bloom.  A picture of the first bloom opening is below.

Touch of Class, my only potted hybrid tea rose, has bloomed during the second week of June, 2001, the last of the hybrid teas to do so.

Touch of Class is into its second flush, mid-July, 2001.

Touch of Class has bloomed on June 1, 2002. My "rose in a pot" appears to be doing well!

Sad to say, the very harsh winter of 2002-2003 proved to be too much for Touch of Class in its container.  It now becomes the third hybrid tea, after Taboo and Mr. Lincoln (from the time before I started the web site), to pass on in this pot.  I think that I may limit myself to mini roses in the pots from now on; I tend to think of them as annuals (though I'm very glad when they come back season after season), whereas I fully expect the hybrid teas to be back year after year and am keenly disappointed when they do no survive the winter.
